Hi, I'm Darci!

Tell us about yourself. My love of teaching comes from a love of learning, and it's continuously driven by witnessing that "spark" in children. After spending time teaching in NYC schools and becoming a mother myself, I truly value the child-led learning approach, believing whole-heartedly that the true work of a child is to play. I've found that children learn best when allowed to explore and discover according to their interests, abilities, and innate curiosities. I am delighted to bring the children of our community the opportunity to play, discover, and grow!

In your opinion, what is the role of the live teacher in a world where it is becoming increasingly easy to get access to information through the internet and online courses? "The live teacher's role is be a consistent influence in a child's life. Internet and online resources have to be sought by the user and on the user's schedule and motivation. They provide an answer to a question. A live teacher is (hopefully) a present and consistent role model for students to follow. The live teacher not only provides lessons in formal academics but also inspires her students to set and achieve goals. A live teacher can have a similar amount of ""sway"" as a student's parents, and this is something that will be hard-pressed to be replicated online."
