Hi, I'm Miss Jennifer!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I've been working with children for over twelve years now, both in the field of education and as a nanny! I am excited to join this community and be able to share my love and excitement with children and parents alike! I am a true believer in the Reggio Emilia philosophy and have previously worked in a reggio inspired preschool. I truly believe that children learn best through play and working through their own discoveries.
What is your philosophy on and approach to behavioral management?
I believe that behavioral management should be accomplished with positive redirection, and by letting the children know from the beginning what you expect from them, and showing them by example what you would like done. I also believe that telling the children what is coming each day also helps a lot of children navigate successfully through their day.
Who was your favorite teacher and why?
My favorite teacher was not my own, but a preschool teacher I worked with. She truly believed in the Reggio philosophy and her children had true freedom in their classroom to explore, play and learn. It was from her that I learned about Reggio Emilia, and realized that this was the philosophy that held the same values of what I thought was a great program.
Do you have experience working with children with special needs?
I do! I have over ten years of experience working with children with multiple special needs. I have worked with children with special needs in the classroom setting, as well as being a special needs nanny. I have experience in autism, cp, downs syndrome, etc.
