HI, I'm Lisa!
Tell us a little about yourself
I am a trained master teacher of performance art and self respect, with fifteen years of teaching and education under my belt, I have adapted the philosophy of no child left behind. In other words no child in my class will be ignored, bullied, misrepresented or mistreated! There is no favorites all students have the ability to create, learn and ad to the process. The learning experience will involve me but will be built by the students!
What is your philosophy on and approach to behavioral management? My approach to behavioral management is; practicing observation, empathy and commitment to work to understand what can be contributing to the problem. The end result is to trouble shoot and try to fix it. Making my product appealing may help with the problem.
Who was your favorite teacher and why? My favorite teacher was, Mr Chuck Davis; Founder/Director of Dance Africa, this man would pull me because he believed in me! I was shy and gravitated towards the back and he saw something in me I didn't see in myself, he ask me my name and said lead, I nearly dropped dead because of shyness lol, but, the strength and confidence he gave me, I accomplished with ease. I have an obligation to pay it forward! Do you have experience working with children with special needs? Some, once or twice.
What's your philosophy on what it means to be a great teacher? A great teacher, will stay committed even when they want to run, that teacher won't sleep until he or she finds a strategy that works! Patience and faith makes for great teachers! What advice would you give to someone who is considering becoming a teacher? I would tell that individual, any career you sign up for make sure its for you....(The pursuit of happiness) the work and dedication and smiles from the students surpasses the income! In your opinion, what is the role of the live teacher in a world where it is becoming increasingly easy to get access to information through the internet and online courses? The real feel of human emotion will never be replaced by teleprompters, robots or just a search or even a video! A real teacher makes eye contact, they are aware you are in the room, they know your name, they give real hugs...REAL!
How can we, as teachers of children, work to build a society where people are respectful towards each other and the environment? Simple respect commands respect!! Simple, students love to learn, when they feel real teachers they react differently!
