Hi, I'm Lydia!
Tell us a little bit about yourself. I've been part of a Cooperative playgroup for the last four years both as parent, and educator. My classroom is a safe, welcoming space for children to try, fail, discover, and grow. I believe wholeheartedly that children are capable beings, and we as adults owe them the space and support to grow. I am passionate about child-led play, positive guidance, and community building in our classroom. In our classroom we are committed to the development of kind, confident, curious children.
What is your philosophy on and approach to behavioral management? In my classroom I follow the principles of positive guidance.
Who was your favorite teacher and why? My favorite teacher was Mrs. Gina Lloyd, from Mills Lawn Elementary in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Third grade was a big year for me. Mrs. Lloyd is the teacher that inspired my love of reading, and let me know it was cool to be an outspoken, passionate, smart girl. She was kind, funny, and encouraging. Most of all, I wanted to come to school every day. It was a formative experience, and I am grateful for her guidance of my 8-year old self.
Do you have experience working with children with special needs? Yes. I have worked with children on the ASD spectrum, and have worked with a SEIT in our classroom.
