Hi, I'm Miss Onica!
Tell us a little bit about yourself. I've been teaching in private daycare centers for the past nine years. I have had great experiences with children and staff alike. I never got to start any programs at my center since they already have there curriculum in place, but I have learned a lot while working with the children. I enjoy observing them while they play with me or their peers. I enjoy creating STEM activities within my lesson plans. Doing such activities gives the children rich experiences and it also encourages team work.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering becoming a teacher? Its a rewarding job if you love it whole heartedly.
Who was your favorite teacher and why? My favorite teacher was Mrs. Navarro she was patient, attentive and very supportive when I was having a hard time understanding material.
Share a teaching memory that had a profound impact on you. Since I teach young children it's always rewarding when you get to be a part of their growth and development. My most fond memories was seeing my kids able to use words and call my name and walk, they came into the class as infants and left as toddlers.
What is your philosophy on and approach to behavioral management? Since every child is different each situation should be handled differently. In strenuous classroom situations its very important to remain calm and collected as to not scare the other kids.
