Hi, I'm Miss Susan!
Tell us a little bit about yourself. I have been teaching music and art around the San Francisco Bay Area for 15 years. I have worked at Google Children's Center, Day One Baby Center, UC Santa Cruz and been a private teacher with my own business called The Children's Gallery. I have been a family Daycare provider, a foster parent, a mother of one Son and a Grandmother of three. I am funny, playful and active. I enjoy swimming, kayaking, RVing, and playing several instruments. I love dogs and cats. I am very project oriented and love to set up environments for children. Art is my passion and children are my passion.
What is your philosophy on and approach to behavioral management? I believe in doing what I say. I mean what I say. I follow through. I am very kind and practice non violent communication skills always. Communication is key. I am highly respectful of children. They respond very well to me.
Who was your favorite teacher and why? Nancy Andreasen, my Early Childhood Education Professor. She was brilliant and extremely professional. She reminds me of Bev Bos, another favorite teacher I adore.
Do you have experience working with children with special needs? Yes. I have always had children with special needs andrights in my classes. They respond very well to my methods of clear communication and acceptance. I have learned how to read children in a wide range on the Autism spectrum through my practice. They often require more time and individual support but I have had great success in my experiences so far.
